Ohú

Brand, AI test, website, app and schools dashboard for a student guidance platform.

The home page of the Ohú website on a computer, with the archetypes fanned out, and the welcome screen of the app on a phone: ‘Decidir qué estudiar no tiene por qué ser random’ (‘Deciding what to study doesn’t have to be random’).

A compass at sixteen.

At sixteen, everyone asks you what you want to be. Your parents, your teachers, your aunt at Christmas lunch. Hardly anyone knows. And those who think they do change their minds twice before the university entrance exams.

Ohú is a guidance platform for students in secondary school, sixth form and vocational training. It helps them ask the question better. The answer is still theirs.

The test

Behind it, there’s a scientific model of interests and an AI that interprets the answers. Up front, a test with no right answers that takes no longer than break time.

Some questions look alike. That’s on purpose: it’s how we know someone is answering seriously.

The end of the Ohú test on a computer, while the results load (archetype, fields, careers and where to study), and, on a phone, the invitation to take it: ‘Encuentra tu camino ideal’ (‘Find your ideal path’).

The portrait

At the end, each student gets an archetype: the Free Creative, the Strategic Analyst, the Naturalist Explorer. With a description, and well-known people who share it, from Frida Kahlo to David Attenborough.

  • 01The Free Creative
  • 02The Tech Visionary
  • 03The Social Connector
  • 04The Adventurous Entrepreneur
  • 05The Strategic Analyst
  • 06The Community Advocate
  • 07The Sensory Artist
  • 08The Naturalist Explorer
  • 09The Influential Leader
  • 10The Practical Organiser
  • 11The Logical Engineer
  • 12The Independent Thinker
  • 13The Business Wizard
  • 14The Inspiring Educator
  • 15The Curious Researcher
  • 16The Keeper of Traditions

Hover over the cards, or move through them with the arrow keys, to see each archetype.

It’s easier to recognise yourself in a portrait than in a table.

The map

A compass without a map isn’t much use.

To recommend real courses, you need to know which ones exist, where they are and what grades get you in. We built a database of the courses on offer in Spain that updates itself, and an AI tuned to the education context that matches it against each profile.

How Ohú works on the insideThe student takes the test. An AI interprets their answers, assigns them one of the 16 archetypes and matches the answers against a database of the courses on offer in Spain to suggest a path of fields, careers and courses. It all reaches the website and the app, where they save their favourites, and a report by email to show at home.answerscoursesprofilefavouritesStudenton their phoneTestduring breakCoursesup to master’sAIinterprets the answersand matches them to coursesArchetypeone of 16Pathfields → coursesWebsite and appfavouritesReportby email

Hover over a piece, or tab to it, to see what it does.

The path

From archetype to fields, from fields to careers, from careers to courses: vocational training, degrees and master’s, filtered by city, timetable and language.

  • A recommended field in the Ohú app, Public Health, with its description and the related careers.
  • A career in the Ohú app, Nursing, within the Public Health field, with its description and its average salary in Spain.
  • The course filters in the Ohú app: average grade, type of course (university degrees, master’s, and intermediate and higher vocational training), location, mode of study, languages and field.

Fields first, then careers. That way nobody reads ‘DJ’ as the first recommendation of their life. If they end up a DJ, let it be because they chose it.

The conversation at home

These decisions aren’t made alone. They’re made in the kitchen, on a Sunday.

Each student saves the careers and courses they’re interested in to their favourites and gets their report by email. Something concrete to show at home, instead of a shrug and an ‘I don’t know’.

A student’s saved careers and degrees on the Ohú website, on a computer, and the same saved careers in the app, on a phone.

In their pocket and in the classroom

Website and app for iOS and Android, because at that age nobody goes near a computer if they can help it.

  • The start of the Ohú test on a computer: ‘Encuentra tu camino. Decidir qué estudiar no tiene por qué ser random’ (‘Find your path. Deciding what to study doesn’t have to be random’).
  • The welcome screen of the Ohú app, with the logo over splashes of blue, yellow and pink.
  • The illustration of the Free Creative: a boy with a notebook in one hand and a guitar in the other.
  • The way into the Ohú website on a computer: ‘Encuentra tu futuro profesional ideal’ (‘Find your ideal professional future’), with an illustration and the login form.
  • The Ohú app while it loads the test results, with the first step: getting to know your archetype.
  • The illustration of the Naturalist Explorer: a girl with a backpack taking notes, surrounded by birds, plants and butterflies.
  • A question from the Ohú test on a computer: choosing, from a list, the careers you would like to work in.
  • The result in the Ohú app: ‘Tu personalidad: Creativo Libre’ (‘Your personality: Free Creative’), with its description.
  • The illustration of the Curious Researcher: a boy looking at a fossil through a magnifying glass, among books, a telescope and an atom.
  • The course search on the Ohú website on a computer, with a double degree, its university, its average grade, its places and its languages.
  • A course page in the Ohú app: the university, the average grade over the last two years, the length, the places and the mode of study.
  • The list of careers in the Ohú app, with nursing and its sector, health.

And a dashboard for schools, with aggregated data, so careers advisers and tutors can see the whole picture and not just the student who drops by their office.

A compass doesn’t tell you where to go. It tells you where you are. The rest is up to you, as it should be.

We’ve been with Ohú since it was a spreadsheet and a good idea.
